Contact Lens Exam
Contact Lens Exams
At South Nassau Eye Care in Freeport, your eye and vision care needs are important to us, so we take extra care during corrective lens evaluations and with prescription management. The first step is determining your current vision level so we can correct any errors in each eye. It is not uncommon for both eyes to require a different correction. Refractive error (commonly known as nearsightedness, farsightedness, or astigmatism depending on the error) is evaluated by measuring how the eyes focus when a series of different lenses are placed in front of them.
After a comprehensive eye and vision evaluation, the doctor will discuss the variety of contact lens options best suited for you. We understand any contact lens option we recommend needs to fill both your vision needs and lifestyle activities. To schedule an appointment for a contact lens consultation, contact us today.
South Nassau Eye Care is the ideal optometric practice for you. You’ll find an array of contact lenses at great prices. If you cannot make it to us, ask about our free home delivery. We also have many trial lenses available so you can truly find the right contact lenses for your needs.

Contact Lens Evaluation Fee
If you are new to contact lenses, you may notice the fees are higher than your regular eye exams in the past. The contact lens evaluation fee covers the extra tests performed by the doctor along with any necessary follow-up visits and trial lenses. These procedures are only done on patients that wear contacts; it is in addition to the services provided during the annual eye exam.
Patients are sometimes surprised to learn many insurance providers do not cover the extra fees. Insurance companies consider contact lenses as elective, as they are more about convenience than vision correction. However, it is always best to check with your insurance provider as some contacts can be considered medically necessary, such as those patients with conditions like keratoconus.
